{Live} Ireland | Marlfield House

Marlfield House is the exact opposite of Castlewood House.  A large sprawling, leading luxury estate in the South East of Ireland, Marlfield House is a country house hotel set on 35 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, including an organic garden from which the chef will gather vegetables and herbs for your evening meal.

I can’t even begin to describe what the experience was like.  We were greeted by our own personal peacocks just outside our room and could gaze out onto idyllic green lawns and a small river from the bathroom window.  

Our room was unbelievably grand and so welcome after traveling nearly two weeks with the kids.

We took our afternoon tea in the garden – well, it actually was coffee – and the best tasting coffee I’ve ever had.  

Pre-dinner cocktails were in the library, which housed this supercool bar adorned with rows of books.  

The service was impeccable throughout our stay.  Even though I’m not necessarily into country hotels (I’m more of a modern gal), this one was absolutely fabulous.
