I can’t believe Jane will be three in just a few months. Looking back over her old photographs (well, as “old” as a person who’s lived 33 months can have), it feels like decades ago that she was a little newborn and I was ooh-ing and ahh-ing over her first gurgle, her first giggle, and all those amazing little firsts. We literally took thousands of photos and dozens of videos of her to preserve for some future time for me to get nostalgic over – or blackmail her with in her wedding video.
Sam, on the other hand, has been totally neglected. I can’t tell you when he started talking or walking. I didn’t take a “monthly photo” of him on the couch to watch his cute little growth pattern. He just grows and I realize he’s gotten bigger when the pants I pull out for him to wear look astonishingly like his sister’s capris.
The worst part about it is that the preggo-brain I had 3 years ago hasn’t seemed to have left yet, so recalling anything about his 18 month-long childhood without pictures is impossible. And when I look back at the photos I do have of Jane, I can’t remember details about them.
The cure: LiveOn! LiveOn just launched and looks like the perfect solution! Basically, it’s a memory and life-sharing site that allows you to upload your photos and video, narrate them in voice, video or type, and build “tribes” to share them with (if you want). How cool is that?
You can answer “Life Questions” to personalize your timeline and tell your story:
I’m planning to use it to tell my children’s stories so they’ll have their own digital diaries to look back on in years to come. It would also be great for telling my parents’ stories, by digitizing their photo prints and filling in their timelines, so that Jane and Sam can know more about their grandparents’ lives and have a permanent resource whenever they want to access those stories and memories.
I suppose I would use it for myself, but I’m not sure I would survive the embarrassment of the 80’s!
LiveOn’s cool timeline and time capsule features are free to use when you set up a standard account, but if you’d like to try out LiveOn Rewind’s digitizing service, use the coupon code cgc32 for 20% off at LiveOn Rewind where you can digitize all your photos, newspaper clippings, VHS and VHS-C tapes, Hi8, and Mini DVs. You know you’re going to want to have those photos of your crimped hair and fingerless lace gloves preserved for eternity in all their gloriousness!
Thank you to LiveOn for this sponsored opportunity to blog about storing and sharing my most important memories with those closest to me.
