{Play} 30 Days to Hands on Play Challenge | Days 1 through 8
November 10, 2011 in All Posts, Play, Toddler Activities
If you aren’t already playing along, Jamie at hands on : as we grow and Anna at The Imagination Tree are co-hosting the 30 Days to Hands on Play Challenge: thirty days of hands on play prompts for you and your children.
Here’s what we’ve been doing over the last week:
Day 1 - Develop A Mission Statement
We play all the time, but I don’t usually plan out the things we’re going to do, so my goal for this challenge is to stick to the plan and schedule the right conditions for optimal playing and learning.
Day 2 - Build A Fort
Day 3 - Play With Blocks
Day 4 - Go Island Hopping
Day 5 - Explore Play Dough
Day 6 - Play With Family
We made our first Thanksgiving craft: a turkey mask from recycling bin items. Tutorial coming soon!
Day 7 - Make Mega Floor Doodles
For some reason - maybe because we had just done this - Jane had no interest. When Sam woke up from his nap, he preferred drawing with chalk on our floor instead of the paper! (We did do something cool on the canvas, though…post coming soon!).
Day 8 - Play With Water
That’s today’s post on Pipet Painting!
What have you been doing this week? Anything inspired by the 30 Days to Hands On Play Challenge?
There’s still time to join, it’s going on all month long. Today is Making Concoctions out of vinegar and baking soda and yesterday was Playing With Sensory Tubs. No need to do each one, just play as you like!
Happy Playing!

So much fun! Great post!
Thanks - glad you liked it! The challenge is so fun, isn’t it?! Thanks for coming by
Thanks! You ended up in my spam folder, so so sorry for the late response! Please do keep coming by - I’ll keep an eye out for you
I LOVE this post! I don’t think I’ll get my act together to document our challenge.. we missed yesterdays but hope to get back on track today! Love the photos!
It’s fun, but it is hard to document everything. Hopefully I can get two more posts up in chunks like this one. You could just do a bunch in a day or whatever your kids like. I found that they weren’t always interested in the particular day’s challenge, but if I reintroduced it another day, they were game.
