{Craft} Baby Girl Yarn Wreath

November 22, 2011 in All Posts, Celebrate, DIY

I finally made my first yarn wreath!

I used shimmery hot pink yarn around the entire wreath and accessorized with pink heart and polka dot ribbon, 12-month old t-shirts, pacifiers, a pacifier clip, cut out cardstock letters and cute pink ballet slippers.

A few tips for my fellow first-timers:

  • Do not wrap a straw wreath with yarn. Try styrofoam or flat wood instead. You’ll have to navigate annoying bumps, lumps and prickly things with a teeny tiny piece of hot pink floss. All I had was a straw wreath at the time, so I had to make do.
  • Choose the fattest yarn you can find. Or take your time over a week or two. I made this while the kids were eating dinner one night and then for two more hours after they went to bed because we were going to see my friend the next day and I wanted to have something for her new baby besides these. My fingers literally went numb and I developed a crick in my neck, but it was worth it!
