{Celebrate} Homemade For The Holidays | Simple Peppermint Syrup (And A Giveaway) #PeetsCoffee #CBias
December 3, 2011 in All Posts, Bake, Celebrate, Giveaways, Sponsored Posts
Well, you know that all of our holiday gifts are going to be homemade this year, and you know that I love coffee (especially Peet’s), so of course I had to come up with at least one coffee-related present. Sure Peet’s Coffee Holiday Blend is festive, but it’s not exactly homemade. But, peppermint mochas and peppermint lattes made with Peet’s Holiday Blend and my Simple Peppermint Syrup are!
This holiday-themed syrup is so simple to make and makes a perfectly sweet present.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp peppermint extract
You can easily reduce this to 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and 1 tsp peppermint extract, but this amount perfectly filled the Mason jars we had on hand, with one cup left over for me to keep for myself!
Step 1
Bring the sugar and water to boil in a pot over medium-low heat.
Step 2
After letting the mixture simmer at a low boil for about 5 minutes, take the pot off the heat and carefully stir in the peppermint extract.
To avoid a hot, sticky mess, immediately pour the syrup into your Mason jar or glass dispenser.
To Decorate Your Jar
Wrap raffia around the lid of the jar and tie.
Cut out a circle of paper and glue it to the top of the Mason jar or add a sticker or other festive element to the lid.
We gave a jar to friends of ours hosting a 2nd birthday party.
When we came back and the kids were napping, I pulled out the extra cup I kept for myself and made a Peppermint Soy Latte to enjoy with some homemade Salted Double Peppermint Bark (recipe here).
