{Craft} Homemade For The Holidays | Sequin Frames & Ornaments And A Sparkly Treasure Box #Elmer’s Holiday #GlueNGlitter Giveaway

December 15, 2011 in All Posts, Celebrate, DIY, Giveaways, Sponsored Posts

Well, we’re continuing on our homemade kick this holiday season with a Sequin Picture Frame, some Sequin Ornaments, and a Sparkly Treasure Box!

Sequin Picture Frame

You know I love glitter and sequins are just glitter amplified, so I LOVE sequins! This gift was so simple to make and my favorite because of the bright colors.

I used Elmer’s CraftBond Acid-Free Spray Adhesive (I’m obsessed) to get a sticky layer of glue down on the $1 wooden frame I had from Michael’s and then just sprinkled sequins all over.

Stunning!

Sequin Ornaments

For the ornaments, I followed the same steps I did here, but used sequins instead of glitter.

Sparkly Treasure Box

This project I loved making because it’s a gift for Jane. She’s always trying to keep Sam out of her things, so I thought she’d really appreciate a sparkly little treasure box of her own to keep her most precious items.

I started with a $1 wooden box from Michael’s and traced the shape of the lid with my X-ACTO Designer Series Gripster knife to cut out a piece of patterned cardstock. I attached the cut cardstock to the box lid with Elmer’s CraftBond Permanent Scrapbooking Tape.

Then, I cut out a circle from another piece of cardstock with the X-ACTO knife and attached it with Elmer’s CraftBond Foam Mounting Tape to get a 3-D effect going.

Finally, I used a pair of scallop-edged X-ACTO Decorative Edge scissors to cut out a “J” and attached it with the Foam Mounting Tape.

For the sides, I used sticky-back glitter confetti foam that I cut with the X-ACTO knife.

I don’t know why I didn’t just cut one long piece so there would only be one seam, but for some reason I got it into my head that I needed to cut out a separate piece for each side of the star shape. Silly. Don’t copy me here!

You can see my shop for supplies here, but here are some of the cool Elmer’s items I found at Walmart:

You could win the entire Elmer’s and X-ACTO Memory Keeping Wall at Walmart (a $250 value)! How awesome would that be?!

Personally, I have my eye on these:

and of course, more Spray Adhesive!
